It is the year 999. The Christianization of the Scandinavian countries is progressing, but some Vikings are stubborn and fight to preserve their culture and beliefs. A new territory has been discovered that could be the promised land they've been searching for, where the gods walk with the worthy; a land of wealth, bountiful harvests and good living, the very idea of ​​Valhalla.

The first expedition settled there and established a colony. Months later, a second expedition is sent there. The sea voyage is terrible and many men die. A small group of survivors arrive hungry and exhausted at the colony camp, which looks nothing like they imagined. They discover an icy and unsettling place, immersed in the fog, surrounded by an oppressive forest... and empty! None of the settlers are there. What was her longship is planted in the earth like an eerie totem in the center of the camp. You must rebuild the camp, survive the hostile conditions and explore this cold and scary land before understanding what happened and solving the mystery.

HEL: The Last Saga is a cooperative survival horror Viking board game developed by the duo behind SMOG: Rise of Moloch by CMON, game designer David Rakoto and art director Christophe Madura. The game offers players the opportunity to lead a small group of survivors, each with their own background and secret motives. Players must work together if they are to survive the immediate dangers of cold, starvation, and external threats, but they must also fulfill their inner quest to be worthy of the saga that will live up to its name.
HEL: The Last Saga is very narrative, with chapters to read based on player achievements. The game mechanics mix exploration, tactical combat and a bit of resource management. Narration and setting are pervasive, and replay value comes from the unique way you have to replay a failed mission.
