Choose your hero by combining two character options: your role and your people. Your role is your profession and your race is your origin and species. This combination determines your hero's strengths and weaknesses and determines their special abilities. You can record your hero's strengths with dry erasers.

You travel across the map and get power-ups by completing quests and fighting different types of enemies. Move carefully to avoid numerous dangers and travel from city to city, visiting shrines and ruins along the way.

Gain power quickly as the Dead King moves too... He takes your cities from you as the game progresses. For every city he destroys, he gains more power.

The goal of HEXplore It is to power up your heroes as quickly as possible to eventually defeat the Dead King himself. The game is won if you fight and defeat him and bring the light back to the valley.
