During the reign of Emperor Yao, the people of ancient China were constantly plagued by deadly floods along the Yellow River. To put an end to the devastation, Yao hired Gun, one of his officials, to devise a plan. After nine years of failed attempts at dams and dikes, Gun's work came to a questionable end. After his death, Yu inherited his father's work. Learning from Gun's failures, Yu set about building a series of canals to channel the swelling river into nearby fields and smaller waterways.

Legacy of Yu is a fully resettable, non-linear, single-player campaign game that puts you in the shoes of the legendary hero of the Xia Dynasty, Yu the Great. Your task is to build the canals before the looming flood while defending your growing village against neighboring barbarian tribes. With each game, new stories are told and new gameplay elements are added. The campaign has a self-balancing system that adapts to your performance. The campaign ends once you have won or lost seven games.

After setting up the game, add the new Barbarian Master card by placing it roughly in the middle of the Barbarian deck. It requires 4 workers of a single color to defeat.
Destroy 2 townspeople cards from the top of your deck before beginning the game.
The game begins with 5 city people cards and 2 barbarian cards at the top of the game board.
