Arydia: The Paths We Dare Tread is an open-ended, campaign-based, cooperative, fantasy-based "green legacy" board game. The Arydia game is built around four pillars: Exploration, Progression, Combat and Roleplay.

- Exploration - Arydia is an open world that you can explore at your leisure. You'll make your way across the world map, discovering new locations, interacting with memorable characters, fighting vicious monsters and looting long-lost treasures. The world draws you in with detailed descriptions and vivid graphics for every place you visit. Each location is unique, not chosen at random, and is built piece by piece as you explore it.

- Progress - Arydia is played as a campaign over several game sessions; You'll start each session right where you left off! As you play, the game records your actions and decisions. Your characters will get stronger and collect new items, weapons and abilities. NPCs and locations change based on how you interact with them. All of this advancement is achieved via a simple yet powerful indexing system that allows for quick and easy setup and teardown.

- Combat - Many of the locations you will visit in Arydia are hostile, so you'll need your weapons, your skills, and your cooperation to overcome the challenges you'll encounter! Arydia features a tactical, cooperative combat system. Enemies are controlled by playing cards and dice as you and your companions work together to defeat them.

- Roleplay - Take on the roles of a variety of characters that you meet on your journey. Take on the role of an angry shopkeeper, a snooping brat or a badly dressed bandit leader. The incentive-based role-playing system encourages dramatic storytelling without being intrusive.

Publisher Far Off Games points out that Arydia has all the hallmarks of a legacy game - openable packs, hidden information, progression, discovery, exploration, all wrapped up in high-quality components - but it allows you to reset the game, if you finish it so you can start it again or give it to someone else, no destruction of game material!
