If the O-Yoroi of old were the heavy samurai armor, today's TAGs are units whose design falls halfway between improved armor for their mobility and lightness, and a light one-person combat vehicle for their durability and firepower. In order to stand out from its Chinese competitors, the Japanese military industry focused on the criteria of mobility and lightness when developing its armored units. Military analysts have predicted that the coming armed conflicts will mainly take place in urban areas. This doctrine has led to the philosophy of the Ten No Bushi program for the development of JSA combat technology in relation to the design of the O-Yoroi. The Japanese engineers have developed a TAG that is specially suited for combat in cities and includes melee routines and melee defense weapons. Depending on the capabilities of their machines, the pilots of the O-Yoroi Kidobutai (お鎧 機動部隊, Mechanized Mobile Regiment) place special emphasis on training in hand-to-hand combat techniques and the use of the sword, making them true mechanical samurai. But it is their boldness, fighting spirit, and ideal of "honor sustained by the blade of the katana" that make them truly admirable. The O-Yoroi have shown such unwavering determination in battle that not even the Kami, the Japanese gods, could distract them from their goal by always leading the charge and direct use of force.
